In 1994, a group of French scientists discovered an amazing cave in the Rhone Valley with wall murals created 30,000 years ago. Fascinated by the story, Herzog obtained a special permission to film this place. His documentary shows us what we would never be able see otherwise - the interior of the Chauvet Cave. His film is, primarily, a meditation on whether we can communicate with the ancestors, on that which is hidden in the dark unknown and on how technology mutates our bodies and the way we sense own animal nature.
